Malik B., born Malik Abdul Basit on November 14, 1972, was a prominent American rapper and one of the founding members of the influential hip-hop group The Roots. Known for his intricate lyricism and distinctive flow, Malik B. contributed significantly to the group's early works, particularly their first two albums, "Organix" (1993) and "Do You Want More?!!!??!" (1995). His verses often explored themes of spirituality, struggle, and social issues, showcasing a depth that resonated with many listeners. Malik B. left The Roots in the late 1990s but continued to pursue a solo career, releasing the album "The Change Is Coming" in 2005 and collaborating with various artists.
